I’m asking voters to do something different.

You won’t see my name on hundreds of yard signs around Thunder Bay. A yard sign can tell you who is running. It cannot tell you what that candidate believes, how they think, what they have accomplished, or how they would approach the responsibilities of Mayor. I believe choosing a Mayor deserves more than recognizing a name on a lawn.

Seek Out the Candidate Who Is Right for You

My campaign is built around a simple idea: Voters should take the initiative to learn about the candidates. Visit their websites. Read what they have written. Listen to what they say. Ask questions. Examine their experience and public record. Talk with the candidates directly when you can. Then make your own decision. I don’t want your vote simply because my name was the most visible name around town. I want you to consider my candidacy because you took the time to find out who I am, what I stand for, and what I believe Thunder Bay needs.

Less Advertising. More Substance.

Running a campaign without yard signs is one small way of putting the emphasis where I believe it belongs: on the candidate, the ideas, and the issues, not simply on campaign visibility. This approach means you may have to make an extra effort to find me. That’s okay. In fact, that’s the point. Democracy works best when citizens don’t simply absorb the messages placed in front of them. It works when people become engaged, ask questions, investigate, listen to different perspectives, and make informed choices.

Don’t Vote for a Sign

Don’t vote for a sign. Take the time to understand the candidates. If you want to learn more about my campaign, my experience, and my ideas for the future of Thunder Bay, I invite you to explore this website, ask questions, and make your own assessment. You may agree with me on some issues and disagree with me on others. That is democracy. My job as a candidate is to make my ideas and my record available to you. Your job as a voter is to decide for yourself. The choice is yours.
